An Efforia Protocol is a longitudinal program, meaning it integrates various tasks and activities a participant carries out over a period of time, spanning days, weeks, or even months.

This time-bound nature of the protocol allows for a comprehensive study of changes over time.

Key Components of an Efforia Protocol

The tasks within this protocol can include measurements and treatments, many of which are specifically designed to be conducted longitudinally on the Efforia platform.

Treatments

A 'treatment' or 'intervention' generally refers to any action taken to affect some kind of positive outcome. This can encompass a wide range of activities including lifestyle changes, such as adopting a healthier diet or regular exercise routine, to implementing mental health strategies, like mindfulness or meditation - or even productivity hacks to increase creativity and work output.

Efforia sees 'treatments' in a wide light. They could be as simple as adding a new pill to your daily vitamins or guiding you to quit bad habits. Some treatments involve a series of steps that get more complex over time. Others could be daily reminders to do a certain task.

On Efforia, a "treatment" also refers to the specific regimen or procedure that's being tested on a group to evaluate its effectiveness against a certain condition. It is closely related to the term "intervention", which is any measure researchers apply to influence the outcome.

At Efforia, we extend the concept of a treatment beyond activities that happen at a hospital or pharmacy. To us a 'treatment' can encompass a variety of self-care practices, dietary adjustments, exercise routines, and mental health strategies.

Consider the Treatment tasks as your personalized accountability coach, providing participants with meticulous, step-by-step instructions required to complete a task. It is designed to deliver this information to the participant precisely when they need it.

Measurements

Measurements are methods used to observe how a treatment affects someone. Efforia protocols may have up to four different measurements.

Each measurement may be taken at multiple time points over the course of the protocol. At the start of a protocol, a 'baseline' measurement is obtained to set a reference point for comparison. 'Follow-up' measurements are then recorded at different intervals throughout the program to track progress. Ultimately, an 'endpoint' measurement is taken, typically at the conclusion of the protocol, which helps in determining the overall impact and effectiveness of the treatment.

Products & Services

Certain protocols may necessitate items be shipped to a participant, appointments to be scheduled, or digital apps to be downloaded and used. These products and services could be essential for the participant to complete the measurements and treatments.

Efforia coordinates all shipping, logistics, appointment and app download activities—providing a smooth, hassle-free experience for the participant.
